Well, we have made it through the first two weeks of preschool. Elaine loves it and is sad on the days she doesn't go. Frankly, so am I. She is a girl that requires constant entertainment. The first thing she says to me every morning is "where are we going". The answer is expects is something like this: preschool, the library, McDonalds (for the playland, ice cream cones and occasionally fries), the grocery store, and the gym. To be clear, she wants to go all these places that day. Usually the answer is only a place or two and she will tell me that is not enough. There are the rare days when we do go run 5 or 6 errands and that is sometimes enough. Charlotte has gotten over the sadness of leaving Elaine on school days but is always happy when we pick her up. The two of us are having a great time together. One kid at a time is a piece of cake! She easily entertains herself.
Charlotte and Elaine are best friends. And by best friends I mean they play more than they fight and no matter what they want to be doing the same thing at the same time. They do fight over clothes and car seats which I naively didn't think would happen until they were much older.
This is an example of what one does the other has to be part of. Elaine dragged this clothes basket downstairs and made herself a little nest. Charlotte thought it was the best idea ever so she found a large plastic bin and made her own space. They kept each other pretty entertained for while with this one while I picked up the contents of said containers.
Elaine is turning into an aspiring photographer. She staged and took this shot all by herself. Charlotte was napping so Elaine added the stuffed animals as props. Elaine was so proud of herself she brought the camera right to me so I could see her handy work all the while assuring me she did not wake Charlotte up. That's right, at this house the priority is sleeping child over the camera being safe.

Perhaps some kind of kid camera would be a good gift for Elaine's upcoming birthday. Of course, it would have to be digital and very durable...
Your girls are so cute. it is so nice that they play so well together. We seem to have a lot of screaming around here lately by Sawyer getting bugged by Lincoln, but I'm so glad he is in preschool now and has much more things to keep him entertained. I'm so glad you have a blog.
You crack me up - you have the funniest things to say! Your girls are darling. I love seeing the pictures and seeing the funny things they do. That's cool that they are such good friends. And I also wanted to say good for you for not bowing to the family pressure and going to BYU. That would've been a disaster - you never would've met me!!
Elaine reminds me so much of Matthew. He couldn't wait for school to start either. I can't believe she's in preschool now! I remember when you guys first moved into the ward and she was this tiny little thing. Time goes by way too fast.
I think the kids of people who went to BYU -- they would probably have delivered an OIL PAINTING of their younger sibling vs. a digital picture.
Even so, my nieces are INCREDIBLY cute!
