The event we have been waiting for finally arrived: The First Day of Preschool. Elaine has been waking up between 5-5:30AM the past few days because she is so excited. There was no fear or tears in her as she walked into the classroom. She will be going 3 days a week for 2 and a half hours. The saddest person today was Charlotte. As we walked to the car after dropping her off Charlotte was insisting that we go back to Elaine's class and get her. When I didn't do that she kept saying "sister" over and over again. When we got home she went and laid down on Elaine's bed. It was really sweet. I am sure when she realizes the fun she can have without a big sister bossing her around she won't care anymore. When we picked Elaine up of course I asked her the normal questions, how was it, what did you do etc. Her response: I'm not telling you, I'm saving it until Daddy comes home. That's right, I really am chopped liver.

Summers Over...
..and this picture perfectly captures how it went. We played hard to the point that swimming suits as pajamas just happened some days.
We did a little traveling as well. We spent a week in Utah visiting family and taking our second annual trip to Solitude Ski Resort just east of Salt Lake. If forgot to charge my camera battery so no pictures but the girls loved the water slide and playing outside. The most fun they had probably came from playing in the creek and the sprinklers.
My sister, Jessica, walked at BYU graduation while we were there. This means all 6 of my siblings are BYU graduates and I remain the one hold out at the University of Utah.
As part of the graduation festivities Rob wanted to hold an Ice Cream Eating contest. The only other participant was Matt. Supposedly Rob won but he was eating frozen yogurt not ice cream and Matt had his appendix out the week before so it wasn't a clear victory.
While at graduation we were able to get a picture of all but one grandchild in the family.
We are missing one nephew. My sister, Emily, had her baby just a few days before we all were toghether. I am one of 7 children and we now have a grand total of 6 nieces and nephews. Apparently we are not one of those prolific families. I am alright with that since I will no longer be contributing to the growth.

Let's Pretend
For some reason the new favorite game around our house is "Brand New Baby". Elaine made it up and Charlotte is a willing participant. The concept is very basic. They pretend like they are babies. Sometimes they use pacifiers. They don't like to actually put the pacifier in their mouths. Instead they put the handle in their teeth. Apparently, there are limits to how authentic they are willing to make it. They also say "goo goo" because real babies say that, right. It is pretty funny and very nice because they are starting to play so well together.
