Helper

One of Elaine's new favorite things to do is feed Charlotte. She doesn't always get it in Charlotte's mouth but she sure tries. They both laugh so hard sometimes that Charlotte spits it all over both of them. I have to feed Charlotte when Elaine is distracted so it goes a little faster.

Charlotte is a great eater, as you can tell by they size of her arms.

Who has Toes?

I love it when babies discover their legs and toes.

One Honey of a Girl

After spending a little bit of time with Elaine you realize she doesn't really care to eat. I can spend much of my day trying to find something so might like and usually am told no and left with partially eaten bowls of food. The other morning I was very surprised when she found me and told me she wanted a honey sandwich for breakfast. Since she will eat grilled cheese sandwiches I thought that was what she meant. When I asked her if she meant grilled cheese she said "No, I want a honey sandwich." So, I got out the bread and honey and we made a honey sandwich. She had been watching Caillou and I thought the idea must have come from that. Yesterday afternoon she once again asked for a honey sandwich. This time I didn't question her. As we made the delicacy together I listened to the 2 year old running dialog and heard her say "Monkey George eat a honey sandwich too". Mystery solved. There is an episode of Curious George where he does eat that exact sandwich. I am not sure why she remembered it the other morning but she has been enjoying it ever since.

For some reason when she made it she wanted her shirt off and this bib on. She did not explain this to me.

If You are Happy and You Know It

This is one of Elaine's new favorite songs. Interestingly, she gets it a little confused. She always says "if you're happy in your nose clap you hands". She always grabs her nose and then says "honk". Sometimes I try to correct her but she prefers her own version. She is a funny kid.

Playtime

These two have so much fun together. They just laugh and laugh. I am surprised at how much they sound alike. If you aren't looking at them you can't tell what one is laughing the most.

She Wears a Queenly Crown

Elaine feels that a very important accessory with any outfit is a hat. Not just any hat either, it must be a crown. She has started putting little toys and Charlotte's head and telling me they are crowns. Charlotte thinks it is funny and I am always impressed at how well this little things stay put.

Last Time

Elaine decided it was time to introduce Charlotte to the fun times to be had sliding down the Disney Princess slide. They both thought it was really funny. They laughed and laughed. Rob was a trustworthy slide assistant. After a few trips down together the assistant got tired and said "Okay Elaine, this is the last time". When they got to the bottom of the slide Elaine ran around and climbed back to the top and announced "Last time". She's no dummy. We thought it was funny so the girls got a few more slides in before it was time to go to bed.

This is the real last slide. She is saying last time and with feeling.

And We're Back!

I have just survived the longest 24 hours of my life. Yesterday I inadvertently deleted my blog. Anyone who talked to me knows how devastated I was by my carelessness. Thanks to everyone that jumped on their accounts and tried to figure out how to retrieve it. In the end Blogger could restore it no problem. This just goes to show that once posted on the internet things never really disappear from cyberspace.

I have now backed up my blog using BookSmart from Blurb. This company helps you put your blog in book format so you can have it printed. I decided a while ago this would serve as a baby book/family journal. That is why I was sad about the loss. To quote Elaine's current favorite phrase "It's all better".

All About the Core

Today after looking at my sister's cute baby, Bridget, roll over on her blog I realized first, Charlotte does not roll over very consistanly and second, I am very focused on her sitting up because I have a narotic obsession with the idea that her head is going to be flat if she lays down too much.

Charlotte can sit up pretty well. I think her longest record is around 20 seconds.
Sometimes she leans left.
Other times she leans right.

Then, there is the unavoidable fall.

Does anyone else see the resemblance to the Michelin Man?

Save your Money, go to the Grocery Store

Like most houses we have an over abundance of toys. They are scattered on the floor, hidden in closets and drawers and hard to avoid. I am going to quit buying them. Why should I when the groceries seem to be just as entertaining. Elaine helped carry these 2 liter bottles in from the car and now she considers them her babies. She is very tender and sweet with them as she comforts and kisses them. I didn't get a picture but she also read the Fresca and Diet Coke a story. They are the cheapest dolls I have ever purchased.

One Fine Weekend

We had a very fun weekend with my sister, Jessica, and her husband, Matt, visiting from Utah. We didn't do much but we had a great time togther. They played with their nieces and we enjoyed having someone else helping take care of our kids. I am sure one weekend with us is enough to make anyone question having children. Elaine got up this morning and kept saying "where's Jess and Mack". (She never quite got his name right.) We miss them but I am sure they didn't miss getting up early. Come back soon!

Storytime

Elaine decided she wanted to read a book to Charlotte. She went page by page "reading" every little detail and with inflection Charlotte thought it was pretty funny and Elaine loved the attention.

Two Girls on a Countertop

These are just some pictures we took last weekend of the girls. Rob's sister and her boyfriend came over and brought Elaine this very cute swimsuit. Elaine really liked this new suit and wanted to put it on. This was a big change from the nudist she usually likes to be when it comes to the pool.

Check out Charlotte's arms and legs. She is so chubby and cute!
